Presentation Details:​

Location: All venues, library preferred.

Audience: 
I give age appropriate presentations to all grades.
Junior and senior grades are preferred.
Recommended grade divisions: 1-3, 4-6, 7-8, 9-12
Numbers are flexible. (75-100 optimum.)
​150+ is considered a keynote 

​Equipment: 
A digital projector with speakers for PowerPoint, and screen
A glass of tap water is appreciated.
A small table for props
A microphone if acoustics are questionable.

Maud of Green Gablesexplores the intertwined legacies of Anne Shirley's world and Montgomery’s life. It traces the story of Montgomery’s début novel, Anne of Green Gables, from conception to the 1908 publication, and through its meteoric rise to becoming a beloved classic in Canada and around the world. Maud of Green Gables considers why L. M. Montgomery’s book has never been out of print and why is Anne one of the most recognizable characters in all of literature. 
Maud of Green Gables supports school curriculum and character goals. For example, Maud and Anne encourage readers to rise above gender and class discrimination and to see natural beauty in even the most common places. It delves into the challenges and rewards in the creative process and the importance of hard work and perseverance to achieve success. I also show the step-by-step approach to creating an illustration from start to finish.

First Nations Truth and Reconciliation: 
​Shannen Koostachin's grade 8 class launched a national campaign for the right to a decent school in Attawapiskat First Nation—and won! This important true story raises awareness of contemporary FN issues such as inequality in education and services, true Aboriginal history and treaty rights, and the impact of residential schools.

Our Future: How Kids are Taking Action:
Hope and optimism is the antidote to the fear and worry young people are experiencing over disturbing news: the climate crisis, gun violence, racism, cyber-bullying, and animal extinctions, and on and on. Empowered child activists have taken action against injustice, inequity, and environmental degradation, and in doing so have made changes to improve their future. Children want to be part of the solution to the world’s problems. Our Future offers indigenous perspectives and simple suggestions to inspire the activist in all of us.

​Other topics include: transgender rights, gender equality, depression and suicide, healthy food, period positivism, economic equity, refugees, water protection, and more.

The Hero Within: 
​True heroes don’t need capes or radio-active rodent bites. They just need big hearts and the courage to take action against unfairness and injustice. ​Our Heroes: How Kids are Making a Difference  provides the compassionate role models who have made a difference in the world.
 

Peace and Child Rights: 
As Malala says, “Global Peace education is the only solution to reach Peace in the world”. Young activists show kids how they can be leaders, solve problems, and create a more equitable world.
